The Joys Of Thriving Emotionally

In my last article, we talked about the difference between surviving and thriving emotionally, and why it is important to know the difference and to get on the thriving bandwagon.

Today let’s expand on why it is important to thrive emotionally.

Besides the obvious reasons for peace of mind, emotional stability, happiness etc. There are many other reasons why keeping emotional stability on thrive mode takes us much further in life and is the reason why some people feel “lucky” while others not so.

Let’s recap on what it means to thrive emotionally (for full explanation go here:

  • We know how to navigate through situations without getting caught in drama
  • We own our weaknesses and take responsibility for them
  • We are open to learn from others
  • We are in touch with positive emotions
  • We are ok not be part of a herd mentality
  • We do not need the approval of others

When we thrive emotionally, it has a direct impact on our 4-body system (physical, emotional, mental and spiritual)

Physical:
As our emotional well being is closely tied to our physical wellness, you will find that the more emotionally stable you are, the healthier and stronger your immune system becomes. Our ability to love self and be emotionally stable, allows our thymus gland to thrive and this, in turn, boosts our immunity!

When we thrive emotionally, it directly impacts every single cell in our body, and this is why we have this saying that Love Heals!

We are natural healers, just think about it, when we accidentally hit our arm on something, our immediate reaction is to place our hand on the hurt area and try to soothe it. We know unconsciously that we need to love parts of ourselves that are hurt or unwell, in order to bring it back into balance.

But in our modern-day living, instead of loving ourselves back into wellness, we cause more harm with judgments of self or even get so impatient in getting well that we try to short circuit the healing process with all kinds of pills which may take away the symptoms but not the cause.

Most chronic illnesses have their origins within the emotional or mental or spiritual bodies before they surface to the physical body. Ponder on this.

Emotional:
Of course when we thrive emotionally, not only do we want healthier and better emotional connections with others, we learn to choose better connections, and make decisions to cut off the unhealthy ones.

This makes for a healthier emotional life in general. This does not mean that we will no longer encounter negative emotional connections, it is inevitable that they will still happen, but we know how to handle them without getting entangled and we know how to tactfully move away from them.

The quality of our relationships improve, and we do not take in other people’s emotional issue unnecessarily to make them our own. I get asked this question a lot: how do you manage to stay sane listening to so many people’s issues as they come to you for coaching. I learned this a long time ago from one of my mentors, who taught me the importance of "involved detachment”. What it means basically is that when we listen to others, we are involved and feel compassion for what they are going through, but at the same maintain detachment so that we do not “bring our work home”. I usually cut off all energetic connections with my clients (and people in general) through visualisation after every session, so that the energies do not seep into my life, and I make this a conscious effort daily.

Mental:
As our emotional well being is closely tied to our mental wellness, it is quite natural that when we thrive emotionally, we are also thriving mentally. As mentioned in previous articles, our feelings/emotions are caused by our thinking (conscious or unconscious). So if we have achieved a degree of success of emotional stability and thriving, it also means that we have fully utilised our abilities to choose how we think consciously. And to be aware of how our unconscious thoughts may be sabotaging us.

Know people whose habit is to just to focus on the negative of everything? And all they do is complain about what’s going wrong, instead of seeing how things are going right? You just want to stay away from them because they just zap the life out of you. This is simply because they are functioning quite unconsciously and thinking they are doing others a favour by pointing out the negatives. I will share more on this point in future articles.

When we are balanced mentally and emotionally, we are able to manage stress, anxiety and mental relaxation effectively.

One added interesting bit about thriving emotionally, is that this enables us to bring better opportunities, and manifestations into our lives, far more quickly than when we are emotionally poor.

Spiritual:
When we are thriving emotionally, this means we are able to stay in the zone of joy, compassion, love, generosity and much more easily and quickly. This, in turn, attracts much more positive energies into our lives, and the blessings in life come easily. This is how you get “lucky” in life.

If you have a religious or spiritual practice, you will realise too that when you are thriving emotionally, you will rest in your practice (treating it as a pit stop) in a way that allows you to re-fuel spiritually in ways that none other can compare.

Have a joyful day ahead
