We have just entered a season of renewal. What does this mean?
It means that the past few months have been good at helping us to re-evaluate our lives, our priorities, our interests and so on. If you're still at the stage of re-evaluation, it is perfectly fine too, because this season of renewal is going to be with us for the next few months. Have you been feeling it?
The process of renewal is gradual, it is not as if we will hit a button and everything changes, we are spiritual beings experiencing human lives. We do not change overnight, nor do we operate like machines, so we must honour the process of gradual transformation.
If you have made some deep realizations about yourself, your priorities, your life over the past few months, few weeks, or even past few days, it is time to see what needs to shift, what needs to be done in order for you to move forward. This could be in the areas of your work/career, personal growth, personal relationships, or even personal interests such as your hobbies. How and when will you take the next steps to make the changes that you feel in your heart to be true for you?
Any changes we make in our lives will always have a rippling effect on the lives of others, this is inevitable. Perhaps all of these are needed to be taken seriously as well as you get used to the idea that change is inevitable at this point in your life.
Albert Einstein said it well: “The world as we have created it is a process of our thinking. It cannot be changed without changing our thinking.”
Changing our thinking is about a mindset change. We cannot move forward in this season of renewal still clinging on to an old mindset that didn't serve us. When we feel a call for change deep within our beings, it is also a call for us to change our minds. It is a call to shift our perspective, widen our worldview, to see the world through a different mind. If the mindset doesn't shift, change is not possible. And what will eventually happen is deep unhappiness because if you're not listening to the pulse of life within your beingness.
There is so much of un-shedding of old ideas of what you think should be. What seems to be the norm, or accepted by society will no longer have the ground or foundation to stand. The ground has shifted, everything is starting anew. We are making discoveries of what was seemingly impossible or unacceptable are now moving to new levels of normalcy. Some cultural or traditional practices may also die with this renewal process. It is inevitable, for they are no longer valid, and so they no longer work.
But being the ones to make the changes do require courage, because there are others who may cling on to what is old, and they will not accept the changes you are making in your life, lifestyle or even your stand. They do not realise that what they cling on to will no longer work. You make the change anyway, for you will be at the forefront of these changes that you need, your family needs, your society needs, your country needs.
This is a season of renewal, where everyone is given the opportunity to start afresh. So take it!
